Meet Your Therapist

Do you have an anxious child that targets you with demands and disrespect?

Are you feeling a whirlwind of emotions in response?

You feel worried, of course, but also irritated and frustrated, as you grapple with the disparity between your child's behavior in public and the disrespect and threats to the safety of your home.

You may feel helpless, caught between wanting to support your child and wanting to put a lid on the growing tension that your child’s demands and disrespect bring to what was once a harmonious family dynamic. You may have tried everything and found that nothing quite resolved the situation. Or maybe you are coparenting with someone who has a different or conflicting approach.

As a therapist dedicated to supporting families like yours, I understand the challenges you face and the desire for a more peaceful home environment. Together, we can navigate these turbulent waters, empowering your child to find their voice while restoring balance and harmony within your family dynamic. Let’s work towards a healthier, happier future together

My approach is rooted in evidence-based practices and a deep understanding of child development, family systems, and the unique needs of parents. I believe that every family is unique, and I tailor my methods to suit your family's specific circumstances and goals…always with an emphasis on strengths and positives.

In our sessions, we will work collaboratively to identify your parenting style, address any concerns, and develop practical strategies that fit your family's values and dynamics.

We will focus on qualities you want to develop and build on those positive qualities that are already present.

Whether you are facing issues like behavioral challenges, communication breakdowns, or the need for more effective discipline techniques, I'm here to provide guidance and support.

Outside of my practice, I enjoy Jazzercise, outings with friends and my two young adult sons and their partners, animals, travel, the arts, and reading. I am also passionate about continuing education and regularly participate in workshops and training to stay current with the latest research and techniques in therapy.

Remember,
You are not alone –
let’s navigate this path together!

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me. I look forward to the opportunity to work together and support you on your parenting journey.

My personal and professional background

In 2015, I went to Nepal after the devastating earthquakes they faced and volunteered to provide three days of training workshops to Nepali speaking volunteers, in order to prepare them to provide attuned listening to earthquake survivors impacted by trauma and loss.

Being a parent myself, I understand the joys and struggles that come with raising children. My own experiences have taught me the importance of empathy, patience, and the need for support.

I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental space where parents can express their feelings, share their challenges, and explore strategies that foster connection and growth within their families.

As a single parent of two now young adult men, I learned firsthand about managing the kinds of challenges parents face.

I taught divorcing and separating families at “Kids Turn” in order to learn by teaching what I wanted to practice in my life.

With over 25 years of experience in the field, I have had the privilege of working with countless families, guiding them through the intricate dynamics of parenting, communication, and emotional growth.

I hold an M.A. in Psychology, with an emphasis in drama therapy, from the California Institute of Integral studies and have done years of my own personal growth and therapy, so that I may be fearless in accompanying you to the emotional depths of where you might need to go.
